ALL ABOUT LIGHT

At school we have been learning about Light. We did lots of experiments, like using water as a magnifying glass and trying to see the back of our head with mirrors.

We also learnt lots about shadows. One day we went outside and traced our shadows. Then we checked them later in the day and saw that they had moved. This is because the sun was in a different spot in the sky.

Look how far our shadows have moved!

Sources of Light

There are lots of different sources of light. We each made a slide in Power Point to show what we had learnt. This is Hayley's fantastic chart.

Here are some more of our great charts:

Transparency

We looked at different objects and learnt that they can be see-through (transparent), partly see-through (translucent) or not see-through at all (opaque).

Then we got to experiment using Photo Draw to make see-through pictures.

This is Jessica's fantastic drawing.

Look at Vanessa's beautiful see-through clouds!

TOYS! TOYS! TOYS!

We have learnt all about toys at school this year. We looked at different types of toys, what they are made from and how they move.

We did all kinds of experiments to help us learn. We got to make lots of different toys like spinning tops, paper dolls and balancing clowns.

We also brought our favourite toy in to school. We got to do lots of different things with our toys like drawing and labelling them, and making graphs.

A man called Harry came to school and helped us make our own wooden toys. We wrote about all the things we did at the woodwork incursion.

We made clowns that balance on the tip of a skewer. We had to use paperclips to make the front of his arms heavy before it would balance properly.

At the woodwork incursion we used a saw to cut out our shapes. Then we used nails and glue to put our toys together.

Back in class we coloured in our wooden toys. They have flashing lights in their eyes.

Here are some of our great stories about toys:

Sophie's Toy Story

Keely's Toy Story

Max's Toy Story

In Art we all made our own peg doll toys.

1G's Toy Graph

We looked at the materials our favourite toys were made from to make these graphs on the computer. This is Ben's graph.

VALUES EDUCATION

We have learnt about two Healthy Values.

In class we talked about Playing Fairly. We worked really hard and put on a performance at assembly to tell the whole school how they can be fair to each other.

We also learnt about Being Helpful. We talked about all the ways we can be helpful at school and made some great posters for display.
