Welcome to 2M

Wow, we have been super busy this term. There are only 8 weeks and we have heaps of fun and interesting things to do. We are learning about toys and we LOVE it. We are looking at how toys work, what they are made of and why they are important. Check out some of our work and photos.

At the start of term we bought our favourite toy to school. We have so many different types of toys in our classroom like teddies, dolls, cars, spinning tops and a remote control boat.

We invented our own toys.

We wrote poems about our favourite toys.

My favourite toy is a polar bear called Angel.

It’s special because it brings back all the good memories from Sea World.

She is a fury yellowy, white colour with a black nose. Her eyes are brown.

I have taken her on Jet star and I got her from Sea World.

We even made ourselves into  toys.

In Art we made our own Peg dolls. We really enjoyed doing this and decided to write the instructions down so we could make another peg doll when ever we wanted. You can make your own peg doll too, just follow Riley's instructions.

How to make a peg doll  by Riley

You will need: a drill, a pair of scissors, a pipe cleaner 7cm long, textas, some glue, colored cotton, a wooden peg and chunks of material.

Step 1. Get the drill and drill a hole in the peg  all the way through.

Step 2. Put the pipe cleaner through the hole.

Step 3. Get the scissors and the material and cut the clothes out and glue them on. Once they are in place, hold for 2 minutes.

Step 4. Get the cotton and glue it on the head for the hair. Hold for 2 minutes.

Step 5. Get the texta and draw on a face.

Now you have made a peg doll.

Making Parachutes

In science we explored making parachutes. We made them out of paper and plastic but the material ones worked best. We went outside, dropped them from our balcony and watched them float down to the ground. It was great fun.

Meet Oscar

Oscar is a toy giraffe and he is our take home buddy. He will get to visit all of our homes and boy, does he do cool things with us. So far he has played the drums, been motor and bike riding, played the piano and walked in the Warrandyte Festival parade.
