Bottle- nosed  dolphin

The Bottle-nose dolphin gets its name from its beak which is 20 cm long and pointed at the tip. Males can grow to be 3.7metres long and weight 440kg .Females are a little smaller. Bottle-Nose dolphins are found in warm waters.

Location

This is a map of Australia. The red is where the bottle-nose dolphin is found. They live all around Australia in the bays of warm water. Lots of dolphins can die every year because they get stuck and suffocate in fishing nets. Some dolphin are killed for the blubber

Some dolphins do tricks at sea world and are kept there. The dolphins are breed there.  They do no get to swim with wild dolphins. The bottle-nose is the best for doing tricks!! "Flipper'', the star of the  TV. program, was a bottle-nose dolphin.  Lots of dolphins have been in  TV programs

Digestive and Skeletal System

The dolphin's lungs are green. A dolphin's brain is cream.  The oesophagus is brownish-reddish and the liver is purple. There are 67 bones in a dolphin. The melon, a skull like part of the body, is light blue. The heart is red. The intestines are light blue. The stomach is light  blue. The kidney is red. The blubber is grey.

 

 Breeding

The baby is being born tail-first, the usual way. It has been growing inside the mother's body for about a year, and is now nearly 1m long. This birth is taking place near the bottom of an aquarium. In the wild birth takes place close to  the surface so the baby can surface quickly and start to breathe.
