Cockatiel  

The cockatiel is not a very colorful bird. It has red cheeks and a yellow feathered crest on top of its head and sometimes  it can be yellow all over or it can have a yellow head and a black body. The little cockatiel roams over most of the drier mainland, breeding after rainfall. The cockatiel breeds in August, December, winter, Autumn and normally lay 4 to 7 eggs. They normally nest in the hollow of  dead tree branches. 

The cockatiel is a type of parrot, it is part cockatoo that is why its sometimes classed as a cockatoo. The cockatiel can also be called a cockatoo parrot. ( The cockatiel is a popular cage bird.) The wild cockatiel's habitat is near water in open woodlands, scrublands and plains (They move in summer and spring to mainland waters.) Cockatiels are normally found  in groups of 12 or 16 adults do not feed with young birds unless there very little babies .
