The Eastern Wallaroo is a large heavily muscled Macropod which is found near rocky hills and scrublands. It is dark grey and can also be found in forests. It is known as Euro. The black rare Wallaroo is found by rocky land areas of the Northern Territory. Kangaroos, Wallaroos and Wallabies are very similar in their appearance. They are stocky animals and they love stony hills and slopes. This type of Wallaroo is similar to a kangaroo. The Eastern Wallaroo is very large and it lives in dry areas where there is very little water. It shelters in caves and under ledgers. They often dig holes in soaks and dry creak beds to obtain moisture. |

Here are four Wallaroos munching on leaves. There are four types of Wallaroos, Eastern Wallaroos, the Northern and the Barrow Island Wallaroo and the Euro:- (meaning Wallaroo) An Eastern Wallaroo may weigh up to 20kg less then a female Wallaroo. The oldest age for a Macropod is 28 years. Males have heavier muscles then the female Macropod. They do not sweat. If they get hot they lick themselves to cool down. They also shelter from the sun during the day and feed at night. Wallaroos are related to the kangaroo family. They have rounded ears that curve outwards from the middle of the head and, a big black bare nose. |

Defence A disturbed Wallaroo will make a funny noise like this "CH"" CH"" CH" and bang his foot on the ground to alert other relatives and to let the pursuer know that they have been found. The males often have torn ears which have been chewed when fighting. They can also remain completely still to avoid being seen by predators. They are able to get away at high speeds if threatened. Their coat is very shaggy and the tail is thickly furred. In eastern Australia the Wallaroo is darker than other Wallaroos. |

Here are some Wallaroos sun -baking. The Wallaroos of Northern Australia live in small groups in the forest, shrubland, grassland, dry areas and on the plains. In some areas, Wallaroos are considered pests because they eat all the vegetation . Wallaroos also love to eat leaves that have fallen off trees.

| A baby Wallaroo is about the size of a peanut when it is born. when it is born it climbs its mothers fur until it reaches her pouch it suck milk from its mother for many month it takes 18 months until it stops feeding on milk. if the baby is in the mothers pouch and it is a warm day the baby normally goes out and nibbles on the grass. A young Wallaroo's predator is a Wedge tail eagle and the dingo. |
