
The Eastern Long-neck Turtle by Corey and Adam
| The Eastern Long- neck is a very common turtle in the
East of Australia. There are a lots of Eastern Long-neck Turtles in New South Wales, mid to south Queensland and Victoria. The Eastern Long-neck is found in the Yarra River in Warrandyte (Victoria).

It can grow to the full size of 250mm. These turtles prey mostly on small fish, tadpoles, frogs and crayfish. The long neck turtle is a fast swimmer. It can be brown or green. The Long- neck turtle breaths air through its skin. It has very strong front claws to catch its prey. The shields of the shell are edged with black.

| The Long-neck turtle starts its mating at the end of spring. The Long-neck turtle lays its eggs in Summer. They mostly have sixteen eggs in holes near billabongs or streams. They will travel up to two kilometres on land looking for water, food or somewhere to hibernate. |

People sometimes think that they are a green rock. The long neck turtle's other name is the Snake-neck turtle. It sometimes has the nick name of Stinker because it gives out a strong smelling liquid. |
