Our community

The bridge is in Warrandyte. In 1862 a timber bridge was built near the old post office. One of the biggest floods was in the Yarra River. The rain fell from the 13th of December to the 16th. A strong wind blew and that made the water rise enormously. The Bridge is important because it joins Warrandyte with North Warrandyte.

The Warrandyte Bakery is known to be built in the 1880’s. The original wood -fired Bakery used to make bread and damper for the Warrandyte community in the 1900’s. The Walsh family operated it from the 1900’s  to the 1951. It is still here today and a very popular place to buy bread.

The Post Office is now the Historical Museum at 111 Yarra Street. It served the community in floods and the great Depression of the 1930's and through the long and anxious years of the two world wars.
Many people visit it in the weekend to find out information about the history of Warrandyte.
