LUNA PARK in SYDNEY

by CALLUM and AARON

Luna Park is a wonderful theme park opened in 1935. The Luna Park amusement park is situated on the edge of Lavender Bay, immediately west of the Harbour Bridge in Sydney, N.S.W. It was at its peak in the 1930s when thousands of people flocked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the new bridge. The park closed in the 1970's, sparking a long battle for the prime site between preservationists and developers. Luna Park has now been proclaimed a public reserve. The amusement park is being restored and will retain a quirky sense of fun. The idea is to recapture something of the past, not build a new hi-tech theme park. Now, there are new rides like the Tango, the Ranger and others.
