Mt Buller is 250 km north east of Melbourne and rises to an altitude of 1805 metres above sea level.
Mt Buller is the one of largest and busiest mountain resorts in Victoria.
It takes three hours from Warrandyte.
Mt Buller is the closest mountain to Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport, so the quickest way for you to get there is by air.
Snow falls on the higher plateaus in June to September and early October. In the Australian mountain country there are no permanent snowfields and glaciers.
Mt Buller Winter Experience begins on opening weekend when the resort celebrates Winterfest, a three week festival packed with activities for everyone.
You can take part in the traditional blessing of the snow or watch a colorful fireworks display. There is a cinema, gym, kids' club and a hall.
Ski trails are scattered over Mt Buller. The longest trail is 2-5 km long.
When the snow melts many people go bushwalking canoeing and horse riding.
There are 27 ski lifts capable of moving 40 000 people every hour.
Mt Buller attracts around half a million people each year. Lots of people ski there.
Mt Buller is the home of the first Snowtubing Park in Australia.
Snowtubing is the latest winter craze, similar to tobogganing only tubers head down a sculptured chute in the safety of a huge rubber snowtube located at the top of Blue Bullet Two chairlift.
The ticket includes a scenic chairlift's ride and one hour of thrills; twisting, sliding and turning in the snowtubing park.
The Tubing Park can also be hired for groups at night with 20km of groomed trail to go on.
Mt.Buller caters for Nordic skiing enthusiasts. Trails connect the village to Houqua Gap and onto the Mt Stirling trail network.
