TWELVE APOSTLES
By Fiona and Larissa
The Twelve Apostles are big stacks of limestone rock, that have been sticking out of the sea and eroded away over many years. Many rising to over 65m above sea level. The Twelve Apostles are along the shipwreck coast near Port Campbell in south west Victoria, Australia. People come to see them when the sun is setting.
HOW THE TWELVE APOSTLES WERE FORMED

1. Stacks are created as the waves circle the coast and curve around the headlands.
2. First little caves are created.
3. Then the caves get bigger.
4. The caves get too big and they collapse leaving large stacks which break away from both sides of the headland and leave the stacks that we call The Twelve Apostles. They are 32 km along the coastline.

If you want to see these wonderful natural features you could go for the day and have picnic there.
