Getting There

Victoria's Open Range Zoo at Werribee is located 35 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD on the Princes Freeway.

It is a short thirty minute drive from the city over the Westgate Bridge. Take the Werribee south exit to K Road.

Animals at Victoria's Open Range Zoo

Victoria's Open Range Zoo is an Open Range Zoo where animals from grasslands of Australia, Africa and Asia live in conditions close as possible to those they encountered in their natural habitats.

The Aquarium

Werribee Park has an aquarium. It has lots of animals in it.
It has skeletons of animals that have died over the years. It shows how tall they are too.

Egyptian Geese

Found in a variety of wetland areas in Africa, these geese prefer open flooded plains and river sandbanks rather then densely wooded areas.

The Opening

Werribee Park was bought in 1975 to be used for emergencies for Melbourne Zoo.
It was opened in September 1983 and people were allowed to visit the animals.
