On the beaches in Queensland you can ride the wild waves at a surf beach or you can float dreamily as the calm water laps against you. You can lie on the shore and relax as the sun warms up your body and the cool wind from the sea refreshes you. There are so many beaches in Queensland that there is an endless choice of beaches for you to visit. Some that shouldn't be missed are, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast and Mission Beach near Cairns. |

Coral Reefs
Fringing reef, Barrier reef and Atoll are three types of Coral reefs. Fringing reefs extend outwards from the shore of an island or mainland with no body of water between the reef and land. Barrier reefs occur further offshore with a channel or lagoon between the reef and shore. Atolls are coral islands, typically consisting of a narrow, horseshoe-shaped reef enclosing a shallow lagoon. The Great Barrier Reef is a famous tourist attraction on the Queensland coast.
