THE FAIRY TREE

| The fairy tree is a favorite attraction for young children in the Fitzroy Gardens. It is the work of the East Melbourne sculptor Ola Cohn. It was done during the years of 1931-34. You can see fairies, dwarfs, gnomes and native animals. It has got a black metal fence around it. The tree is very old it is grey, it has got rocks around it, and it has got a lot of grass around it too. | ![]() |

People go there to look at the beautiful picture
carvings on the tree. Lots of people go to look at the
Fairy tree in the Fitzroy Gardens. It is very pretty, and
it is an interesting tree. There are lots of other trees
around it but they are normal trees. The Fairy tree is
special. The fairy tree is really just a stump now. It was burnt many years ago. There is a legend that the fire began in a magpie's nest. |
