Pinnacles

Where are they?

The Pinnacles are in Western Australia in Cervantes at Nambung National Park.

 

Location

Cervantes is located 245km north of Perth. From Perth to Nambung National Park is 400km and a four hours drive. The Pinnacle desert is 29km south of Cervantes in W.A.

In the Park there is a road that you can drive on, so you can see the Pinnacles. There are parking bays where you can stop, so that you can have a closer look at them.

How they get bigger

The Pinnacles got bigger by the wind blowing the sand away which resulted in the solid limestone rock appearing.

Wild Life

The Wildlife is mainly Red Kangaroos and Wallabies.

History

There are over four thousand Pinnacles. The highest Pinnacle is four metres and the rest are all different shapes and sizes. The Pinnacles have been formed in sand dunes. The Pinnacles are less than 80,000 years old .Nambung is best know for the Pinnacles, a group of limestones in a large sandy desert. The Pinnacles were first discovered by Major Louge in 1849. Nambung was opened in 1966.
