When Was It Built? The Princess Theatre has been entertaining audiences for 135 years and was the second building on Spring Street in the centre of Melbourne. It was built in 1865. How is it used? People go there to watch plays and other live shows. The plays can be sad, happy or a musical. Some of the famous shows that have been staged there are "Phantom of the Opera," "Riverdance" and "Beauty and the Beast". |

What Does It Look Like? It is made of stone, brass, wood and metal. There is also a lot of gold paint and edging on the building which gives it a "royal" appearance. |

Performances There is one performance on at a time. The musical that is being performed now is called "The Sound of Music". |
