Sydney Aquarium

The Aquarium is in Sydney at Darling Harbour. There are many species of underwater animals in the Sydney Aquarium.

The aquarium has a total of 11,500 all Australian animals respresenting 650 different species.

There is a total of 150 metres of underwater tunnels. The tunnels are constructed of 8cm thick acrylic.

Over 1,000,000 people visit the Sydney Aquarium each year.
The Aquarium is open every day from 9:30am -10pm.

Water is taken from Darling Harbour, and thoroughly filtered for the saltwater tanks. For the freshwater tanks it is taken from Sydney drinking supplies and again filtered.

The largest shark on display is a Grey Nurse Shark, called Josephine. She is 3.5 metres long and weighs about 300kgs. The oldest shark at the Aquarium is three years old.
