| George Allan Vasey was born at East Malvern, a suburb of Melbourne on the 29th of March 1895. After leaving school George Allan Vasey went to the Royal Military College, Duntroon to train as an army officer. During World War One George Allan Vasey was mentioned in dispatches twice and awarded the Distinguish Service order. Between the wars George Allan Vasey served in India for three years as part of an exchange plan and also held various posts within Australia. |

When World War Two commenced in September 1939 Vasey was appointed
to the 6th Division as Senior Administrative Officer. It was here that
he fought in the first Libyan Campaign. George Allan Vasey was an excellent officer and war leader. In 1941 George Allan Vasey commanded the 19th Brigade in both Greece and Crete. With Japan entering the war in December 1941, Vasey was recalled to Australia and promoted to Major General. Major General George Allan Vasey died in a air` accident on 5th March 1945 on his way to take up his command of the 6th Division in New Guinea. |
