Harold, Edward Holt is an important Australian because he was the 22nd Prime-Minister of Australia. He was born in Sydney on 5th August 1908 and died in 1967. He was educated at Wesley Collage and Melbourne University. Harold Holt became interested in Politics when he was at University and after graduating. he used his father's influence to be appointed Secretary  of the Victorian Cinematography Exhibitions Association. 

 He was elected from 1935 to 1946 as Liberal member for Fawkner in Victoria and in 1946 as the member for Higgins, Victoria. 
When the 2nd World War broke out, Holt served in the Army for 5 months, before becoming the Minister  for Labour and National Service in the 1941 Menzies Government. He was Treasurer from 1958 to 1966 in the second Menzies Government.

He went  to Portsea Beach on the 10th December 1967 and disappeared. The  police couldn't find his body. He might have been attacked by a shark or stung by a sting-ray.  His family  and friends were very upset. It was very unfortunate that Harold Edward Holt died.
