Frank Beaurepaire was a great swimmer and athlete. Later in his life he became a big business man. He was born in Melbourne in 1891. In 1907 he won every freestyle race he entered.                  

Beaurepaire entered the London Olympics in 1908 and won a silver medal in the 100 metres freestyle and a bronze in the 1500 metres  freestyle. 

 In 1910 he was named Athlete of the Year in Australia. He missed the Stockholm Olympic Games in 1912 because he did not have enough money. In 1920 he won a silver medal in the 800 metres  freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the 1500 metres freestyle. In 1924 he won a silver medal in the 800 metres freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the 1500 metres freestyle again.

In 1922 he rescued a person from a shark attack and in return they gave him a reward which he used to start up his own business known as "The Beaupaire Tyre Service" in Melbourne.    

 

In 1928 Beaupaire became a member of the Melbourne City Council. He was Mayor for two years (1940 - 1942). He was knighted for his services in sport and industry. Later, he became a member of the Victorian Parliament and helped get the Olympics to Melbourne in 1956.

Sir Frank Beaurepaire died in 1956.
