Ned Kelly by Adrian and Jacob
Ned Kelly is a famous bushranger.  He was born at Beveridge in 1854, Ned was to become known for his athleticism and bravery.  His gang was Joe Byrne, Steve Hart and Dan Kelly.
His family was very poor and lived in Mile Creek in the middle of Victoria.
On the 28th of June 1880, Ned Kelly, was the most famous bushranger around. People still remember him for his boldness and daring robberies and raids. Some people didn't think, that he is a hero, especially police and bankmen.

Ned's last battle was in Glenrowan. The police wanted 2000 pounds for his capture. The gang wanted to destroy the railway and kill the police at Glenrowan and then the Kelly Gang wanted to set up their own Government in north east Victoria.  Their plan back fired because a school teacher had told the police they were going to derail the train. Ned may have had armour on, but it didn't cover his legs. The police shot him in the legs and captured him whilst his brothers were killed.
Ned Kelly was taken to the Old Melbourne Gaol and after his trial the jury found him guilty and the death sentence was pronounced. He was hung on 11th November 1880 and he was buried next to the Old Melbourne Gaol wall.

Glenrowan is a very famous town now, because many tourists visit this town to see where Ned Kelly had his final battle with the police. They call this area "The Kelly Country."
