Dame Phyllis Frost was born in 1914. She grew in the Melbourne suburb of Croydon. Her mother was always providing food and help to poor families. Dame Phyllis helps poor families just like her mother did. Dame got her love of helping others  from her mother's work. She loved school. She was good at exams. Helping people who were sick and poorer off became the focus of Dame Phyllis Frost's life and she was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1974.

Dame Phyllis Frost is chairwoman of VicCare (Victorian Relief Committee), which gives food, household things and things for children to people in need. VicCare also gives counselling to people. 
Dame Phyllis Frost is involved in 57 charity organisations and despite having a bad fall recently and breaking bones in her hand, she continues to help others. She also gives lots of talks to groups of people and to schools. The Dame Phyllis Frost Centre helps students who have special needs. The Maroondah Annexe caters for six students at any one time who have either social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Dame Phyllis Frost has also done a lot of work for women's prisons. She is a very hard worker and a wonderful person.
