Franklin River By Nicky & Camilla.

The Franklin River is a huge river which has been formed over millions of years by natural causes.  The Franklin River is one of the most beautiful rivers in Australia. There are many different creatures living around the river which include lizards, birds and eagles. 

Lots of people go there to visit to view the beautiful scenery and to raft down the river. 

It has been named a World Heritage Conservation Area by the United Nations.

Location

The Franklin River is near the west central coast of Tasmania.  The closest river is the Gordon River and the closest village is the Strahan village. 

 

Many years ago the Franklin River was joined to the Gordon River, but over thousands of years, they have separated.  

Why is Franklin River important?

It is one of the most beautiful features of Tasmania. There are lots of wildlife around Franklin River, gorges, beautiful forests and many waterfalls too. It is a place which you and your family can visit to experience the magnificent wilderness and breathtaking white water on this world- renowned river.

Why do people enjoy it.

People enjoy the river because you can relax,  go on bike rides and bush walks some of which are. There are many bush walks which are over 5 kms long, or if you really want to relax you can go on boat rides. You can enjoy the wilderness or simply just go rafting on the first class rafting tours.  
There are lots of different rivers around the Franklin River area. The river is popular for its beauty and its shape. The Franklin River rushes through rugged gorges and it glitters like white water.
