3/4C - 2004 Great Fly Off

We hope you enjoy reading about our designs.

We have some great designers in our grade.  Larry is ready to help you with a few ideas

For a look at one of our paper plane designs, click here.

Click here for the results of our first fly off. As the grade 4's were on camp we did this one  with only the grade 3 children in our grade.

Here we are with our paper planes ready for our first great fly off. We spent a few weeks making them and we even wrote instructions on how to make them. We've had a few practice flying sessions around the classroom and annoyed everyone by flying planes inside. Now we get to really fly them!
Hi I am Rory and this guy is Matt. Rory is on the right and Rory is holding the plane in front of me so you don't get to see me. Ohhhh and little nipper is in Matt's plane. Can you find him? We are getting ready for a fly. We are going to fly them off our balcony. We have to measure how far the planes went.

This is a picture of the class just before the fly off. As you see Harriet is the one at the back with the scarf on. Riley  is the one  that is at the front with the headband on sitting right next to Suresha .This is with all the gliders. Some people handmade their gliders. They came in big and small. Some people made small gliders that went very far. Everyone is going to have fun.
This is a picture of Georgie and Jess ready to fly our planes in the great fly off. Jess's plane did not go very far. This is how long her plane went -4.58m. Georgie's plane went 6.50m so it wasn't too bad. The great fly off was very enjoyable for everyone and it was a fantastic day!! Riley's plane went the farthest out of the girls group. This is how far her plane went 11.35m. The slowest plane was Jess's super glider 2000. But that did not matter as the most important thing was that we had a lot of fun at the great fly of 2004.

Here is Kyle N at the front with the measuring tape, Zach B next to him Ryan T at the back and he is the tallest. Emerson L is on the left. Anyway next to him at the back is Josh G. We are holding the measuring tape and as the girls throw their planes we will see how far they will get!

Me and my friend Matt are recording the  flying distance. The farthest plane was Zach's. He got 19.1m. The farthest girl's plane was Riley's at 11.35m. The lowest boy was Rory with 3.83m. The lowest girl was Jessica with 4.58m.Their planes did a nose dive!

This was when it was Suresha's go. She got 9.5m. before it was Suresha's turn it was Jessica's and she got 4.58m   The girls went first and the boys went second. It was fantastic and exciting for the whole grade.

Now the first boys turn is Josh R. We have chosen the new building to fly off. It is a great start to 2004. Josh got 7.10m the next person to fly is Rory C as you can see the boy didn't drop his plane what a relief Josh's plane is called the dart. Mr Crabb and many grade fours couldn't make it so we have Mrs Orchard as a substitute teacher. We took 45 photos these are just some of them.

Claire and others used the metre wheel to measure how far the gliders went when the tape measure couldn't reach.
