3L's Great Fly Off

This is grade 3L in the stadium with their
cool wicked paper planes!

Hello,
Our grade is Grade 3L. This is our Great Fly Off page. We have been learning about force and movement. To help us understand more about it, we made really cool, colourful paper planes. We could not cut, glue, tear, use sticky tape or copy it from book. We borrowed Mr. Tobin's stadium and tape measure and we used them both for our Great Fly Off. We practiced throwing our paper planes before we had our fly off. We made our paper planes in white scrap paper for the first round. Then for the second round we used coloured paper. We went to the stadium to test the longest distance and the longest time.

Here we all are outside on our adventure playground. Our classroom is in the new building you can see behind us on the right.

First Round Winners

Hi! our names are Tyson and Gracie we were the winners of the first round. Our grade 3L went down to the sports stadium to do the first trial of the Great Fly Off. Tyson's glider stayed up in the air the longest, it stayed up in the for 2:88ss. Gracie's plane went the furthest, her glider went 10 metres and 76 cm. It was good fun.
We showed the kids in our grade how to make our winning gliders.

Hi, this is Ethan. I got 1 metre and 33 cm and my time was a draw with Elise with 3.09 seconds in the air.

Hi, this is Elise. I got 4 m. I got 3.09 seconds in the air.

Hello, this is Ramon. I got the furthest distance. My distance was 12.71m.
My time was 1.67 seconds in the air.

Second Round Winners

Hi, our names Kareena and Elise. We enjoyed this Fly Off because it was sort of a challenge for us and the grade. We liked making our planes because at first we had no idea how to make them. It was a bit funny at first because they looked funny and didn't fly very well, but we mixed up our ideas and we both made really good planes. Elise practised at home one night and got a good idea for a plane. My plane is cream colored and Elise's was dark blue and called Water Wish.

Our names are Erin, Simone, Ellie and Martene.
Martene's plane went 10.22 metres and the time was 1.sec 22s/s. Erin's plane went 5.70 metres. Erin's time was 83s/s. Simone's plane went 7.00 metres. Simone's time was 1sec 72s/s Simone's plane is called Fast Blast 29, it went pretty far and stayed in the air for a while. It took a while for Simone to make, but it turned out well.
Ellie's plane went 4.40 metres. Ellie's time was 1sec 41s/s. The plane is called Lexes F 50. Ellie's plane went pretty far too and Ellie's time was good. Ellie did a few copies of her plane and it turned out great. We all enjoyed our Great Fly Off.

Hello, here we are again. We are the second round winners, but in the first round Ethan's time was 1 sec. and 47 s/s seconds and in the distance I got 4 metres and 32 centimetres. I am Ramon my time in the first round was 1s 56s/s my distance was 6 metres and 26 centimetres.

Hi my name is Elise I'm a second round winner. I got the longest time in the air. My time was 3 seconds and 9 split seconds. My plane was called Cool Dude 35. I got 4 metres in distance the second time. My time in the first round was 2.56 seconds and my distance was 6.46 metres.

Hi our names are Georgia, Keeley and Gracie. We did not win the fly off, but these are our times and distances. Keeley's first round time in the air was 1:87 sec, and her second round time was 0:87 sec. Keeley's first time length was 5.15m, and her second round length was 6.75m.
Gracie's first round time in the air 1:72sec, and her second round time in the air 2:21.sec. Gracie's first round length was 10.76m. (The first round winner.) Gracie's second round length was 8.44m.
Georgia's first round time in the air was 1:41 sec. Georgia's second round time in the air was 2:03sec. Georgia's first round length was 8.17m, and my second round length was 7.10m.
Our second round planes were of coloured paper. Georgia did hers in light green. Keeley did hers in purple, so did Gracie. We had a great time doing the Fly Off.

Jacob's plane went 3.82m and stayed 1.50sec in the air.
Brayden's plane went 11.40m and stayed 2.22sec in the air.
Zoes's plane went 1.40m and stayed up for 1.50sec.
Brayden's plane is called 64.
Jacob's plane was called Pinkie.
Zoes's plane was called Tiger Wing 2.
We had a great time flying our planes!

Our names are Jason & Leigh.
We did not win. Leigh's plane went 4m.60cm. It was fun anyway. We liked it. Jason's plane went 7m.80cm. We almost won. Leigh did a bad throw. Jason's was in the air for 2sec 12s/s. Leigh's was in the air for 1sec 25s/s.
Leigh's plane's name is Zoomer. It was blue with yellow stripes.
Jason's plane's name was Glider 187. Jason's was yellow with fire coming out of the back.
The furthest plane went 12m 71 cm. We did it in second term. We did it in the stadium. They went fast. Jason's plane went further then Leigh's. We had a practice at the start.

Our names are Zoe and Elizabeth.
Zoe got 1sec 59s/s and 4.70m in distance. Elizabeth got 1sec 62s/s in time and 8.40m in distance.
Elizabeth's plane was named Boom Zoom!
Zoe's plane was named Deep Blue Sea! Elizabeth's plane went 4.30m more than Zoe's. Elizabeth's plane stayed up 13s/s more than Zoe's plane.
Elizabeth's plane was green with flames of fire on it and Zoe's plane was blue with fishes on it. We had lots of fun!!!!

Hi our names are Levi and Michael.
We did not win the Fly Off but we still went well.
Levi had three goes. Michael had one go. Levi's time was 1:11sec and the distance was 35cm. Michael's time was 1:94sec and his distance was 3.90m.
Levi's name was "The Fast and the Furious". Michael's plane was called "Michael 52".

Hi, my name is Millie. My plane went in the air for 2:06sec and the distance was 1.42m.
I named my plane Faster Blaster, but it wasn't what I thought it was.
In the first trial what I got for time was 1:62sec and the distance was 4.67m.
,I had fun.

Hi our names are Braden and Ryan.
None of us got to win, but we did our best.
Ryan got 1:22sec in the air and 2m and 78 centimetres, and Braden's got 0:96sec in the air and 6m and 4m and 28 centimetres. That was the second round.
I the first round Braden got 1:56sec in the air and 6m and 33 centimetres, Ryan got 2:16sec in the air and 1m and 41 centimetres. We had lots of fun.

Hello my name is Tyson.
I had really fun do it. My plane went 2m 0cm and 2sec 50s/s. When I was doing it I knew that I would not win, but I tried.

Hi! our names are Alan and Ruby,
a couple of weeks ago Grade 3L had the great Fly- Off. Ruby got 1 second and 25 s/s in speed and 5 metres and 25 cm in length. Alan got 8 metres and 40 cm in length and 1 second and 75 s/s.
We hope we do it again because we had fun!
