3N - 2004 Great Fly Off 

 
Grade 3N had an enormous amount of fun participating in the Great Fly Off. Many experiments were made making all sorts paper planes. Many designs were tried with some being more successful than others. Opposite is a graph of the distances covered by our aircraft and the number that went that distance.
Hi my name is Ashleigh and I invented a plane but I didn't like it so I asked a friend to make it for me. Then I tested it. It worked but I didn't want the same as other people so I changed it. Then I tested it. It was better. Then we had time so I decorated it with shapes and textas. A couple of days later we went to the Multi-Purpose Room to fly our planes. When I flew it I was nervous. After I flew it I was disappointed because I didn't get as far as I thought I would. My plane travelled 1.6 metres and it stayed in the air for 1.37 seconds. 

Hi, my name is Tim and I designed my plan from an idea that popped into my head. Dart shaped aeroplanes are probably the best to fly. I'm not saying they are all the time but most of the time. I made A couple of changes to my glider. I was embarrassed a bit performing in The Great Fly Off but, I still went well. Mine went the furthest with 6m80cms. and stayed in the air for 1.63 seconds.      
Hi, my name is Maddy. I chose my glider because I thought it would be the best of my planes that I made. I thought it would fly better if I put two paper clips in the front and one in the back. I was a bit nervous because it was the first time I had taken part in a Great Fly Off. My plane was called "The Most Powerful Plane." The fly off was called The Great Fly Off. My plane flew 2.30 metres and stayed in the air for 0.91 seconds.
G'Day my name is Niamh ( said Neve.) I entered into the Great Fly Off in grade 3N, 2004. I chose to use the glider that I designed myself because I thought it would well. It did go a lot further than I thought it would. It flew for 60 centimetres and it stayed in the air for 1.09 seconds. Tim's went the furthest in the grade, flying 6.80 metres.
Hello, my name is Zoe. Another class mate helped me make my glider as I was unsure of what to do. I decorated it to my own design. I thought my glider would go very well but it didn't go as far as I thought it would. I practiced my launching technique but it didn't seem to help as my glider only flew 1 metre 80 cms. and stayed in the air for 1.38 seconds.
Hi, my name is Tamara. I chose my plane because it was the only one I could make. I thought it would only go about 3 centimetres because all it did was go upside down. That was why I called it "The Big Twirly." I was surprised when it went 1 metre. I made three planes at home and they all went better because I had more time to think about . My plane stayed in the air for 1.69 seconds. I also had a glider called the Rainbow Glider but I didn't try it out.
Hello, my name is Sean. At "The Great Fly Off," I used a dart because I thought it would be good to use. My friend helped me make my dart as I had some trouble. My dart flew 5metres 46 cms. I came fifth in the grade.
Hi, my name is Carly. My class mate Darcy helped me design my plane. I made changes to it. I was kind of nervous when it was my turn to go in "The Great Fly Off. " My plane flew 4 metres and stayed in the air for 0.88 cms.
G'Day, my name is Kelly. My plane has a big wing span . My plane also has a long length . My plane goes a long distance  in the sky . I used paper clips on the back of it. I used sticky tape on the front of the plane to help it fly better and further. My plane flew 1 metre 30 cms. and stayed in the air for 2.22 seconds.     
Hi, my name is Mason. I chose this design of plane because I thought it would fly a long way. To launch my plane I held it at the tip of the nose or sometimes a little further back My plane flew for a distance of 2metres 40cms. It stayed in the air for 2.35 seconds. I enjoyed The Great Fly Off especially being able to test many gliders to see which would glide the best.
Hello my name is Donata. I chose my glider because I thought it would go a long distance. In grade 3L Gracie's plane went 10 metres. Now that is far!!! My glider flew for 2 seconds and travelled 1metre 40cms.
My name is Ben. My dart was made by my friend Daniel. The first time I flew it, it went a really long distance. When we had the Great Fly Off my dart went 6metres 40cms. i came second in the class and Tim came first by 40cms. My dart stayed in the air for 1 second. Mason's glider stayed in the air for 2.25 seconds. When I threw my dart it went sideways.
My name is Emma. I chose my glider to do for the Great Fly Off because it worked better than all my other planes. It flew shorter than it had before. My plane flew 30 cms and it stayed in the air for 0.82 seconds. I had fun making my plane and was a little nervous stepping up to launch my plane.
Hi my name is Marina. Darcy made my plane for me because I made a plane and it didn't fly as well as I thought it could. I tested it out and guess what? It was brilliant. It flew really well all thanks to Darcy. I really liked my glider it performed very well. My glider flew 4metres 30cms and stayed in the air for 1.54 seconds.
Hello, my name is Lillie. My paper aeroplane has written on the side,"On the Runway and "Up in the Air." For weight I used two paper clips. I think that my plane was pretty good. I could see that my plane did not go far but it did fly 1 metre 50cms and the time recorded was 1.50 seconds.
Hi, I'm Campbell. I didn't know enough about making planes so Daniel made it for me. It was a jet. The distance it went was 3.60m, and it stayed in the air for 1.25 seconds..
Hi my mane is Brandon. I am 8 years old. I had fun making the planes. I was able to help many people design their planes as they were unsure of what to do. They had not made planes before. My plane flew 2 metres and stayed in the air for 0.79 seconds.
Hello, my name is Cecilia. I am eight years of age .

I had a lot of fun watching everyone fly their planes and look at all the different designs. The farthest  in my grade flew 6.80 meters. It was Tim Apostolides' plane but mine only flew 80 cm but at least I tried. !      
Hi, my name is Michael. I had loads of fun when I did the Great Fly Off. I made a dart but it didn't go very far because I threw it too hard. It had too much weight at the front and it went down at the front quickly. My dart travelled for 6.30 metres and stayed in the air for 0.97 seconds.  
Hi, My name is Darcy. I chose my dart because because it was the best type of plane I could make. There was lots of folding in my plane but I managed to get it together well. My plane travelled 5metres and stayed in the air for 1.25 seconds.
Hello, my name is Daniel. Unfortunately I was away when my grade did the Great Fly Off but I did manage to make many planes. I helped many of the people in my grade with their designs. 
Hi, my name is Kennedy. I made a dart with a little help from another person in my grade. On the day of the Great Fly Off I didn't think that my plane would go very far. I was surprised that it went as far as it did. The distance it flew was 5.55 metres and it stayed in the air for 0.97 seconds.
Hi, My name is Nick. I made eight designs of planes to see one would be the best. None of them worked so I tried experimenting with the other designs I made. I found a ninth design which seemed to be the best one to use. Even though I didn't win the Fly Off with my design I was proud of my efforts. My Plane did fly for 4.32 metres and it stayed in the air for 0.63 seconds.
